“As we’ve closed the book on 2023, we have taken some time to look back on the past year at Wall Street Bound. What a rewarding journey it has been to get where we are today. It is always challenging to find the words that best express our gratitude for the truly humbling way you have supported our mission. Whether you have invested time, extended financial support, attended our program, or simply supported our mission by following along…

Together, we were able to accomplish some remarkable achievements this year!

Partnerships: In 2023, we had the privilege of embarking on brand new partnerships that truly support and believe in the mission of Wall Street Bound. Two of those partnerships include US Bank and TIAA. US Bank worked with Wall Street Bound in Fall 2023 to provide introductory financial sector introduction (Bootcamp).  The students were from three HCBU's in North Carolina and Georgia. TIAA joined Wall Street Bound as a corporate supporter of our efforts to "Change the Face of Wall Street" in recognition of the important work of Wall Street Bound.

Students: In 2023, 80% of WSB students received opportunities, such as job offers and/or internships after the program.
 
Volunteers: In 2023, over 250 hours were invested into our programs by external volunteers and speakers. Because of that, students expressed hope and excitement for their future since completing the program. Wall Street Bound was launched with a mission to Change the Face of Wall Street. Thanks to you, we move closer everyday to making that dream a reality. In 2023 alone, we equipped more than 200 students (203 to be exact!) with the education and tools they need to begin their journey into the financial services industry. This marks an 80% year over year increase in the number of students served vs. 2022. And, with your support, we’re going to go even farther in 2024.

 A message from our Founder…

“New Years means different things to different people, but I'm fairly certain that to most, it means a time of both reflection and forward planning. 2023 was an important year for Wall Street Bound; we saw meaningful YOY growth in the number of students served and organization headcount, a complete revamp of programming, and we took great steps in org operations that will have started our progression from startup to a maturing organization.

It is not to say of course that the year was not without its challenges. We learned, and continue to learn through pain and trial & error, the importance of leading with a vision, the challenges of executing said vision, and perhaps most importantly, the difficulty of establishing a lasting org culture, and the vigilance needed to protect it.

We look forward in 2024 to building upon the lessons of 2023, and continuing to expand both the breadth and reach of our work. The mission of Wall Street Bound is to permanently disrupt, at scale, the systems that exclude the unseen, future finance talent that we are dedicated to recruiting, and preparing for access to the great game. I wish all of our students, staff, supporters, partners, and community members a Happy New year, Best Wishes in 2024, and continued faith in the importance of this impactful and life changing work.”

We cannot express our excitement and anticipation for the future of Wall Street Bound as this new year begins. We believe this will be our most influential year to date. We appreciate your incredible efforts to help impact our community, it’s only possible with you.

“5 Minutes of Mindfulness: Take Charge of Your Mental Space

Sometimes our biggest obstacle is ourselves. We often get in the way of understanding our needs and focusing on what drives our everyday acts. Over time this blockage begins to weigh us down, and exhaustion will creep in. However, when we pause and decide to take charge of what is formulating in our minds, we can begin to pivot towards satisfying needs and fueling our bodies with the right type of medicine. This move-in taking charge can come to fruition via moments of mindfulness.

Through mindfulness and utilizing silence, we can begin to climb that blockage or proverbial mental ladder. There’s a beautiful side to silence as silence is the absence of sound, yet in this absence, silence can ring incredibly loud. To some, silence may be an intimidating and even frightening idea, but melding this tool with the right amount of time (which is different for every individual) can lead to understanding. Silence can enlighten our minds and help propel our thought processes to what our bodies need in the here and now.

Time To Take Charge. Begin with the knowledge that every moment of mindfulness differs, and no two practices are identical.

• Allocate 5 minutes to this mindfulness session (remember to start small and build on your practice)

• Find a comfortable place to sit down on the floor

• Close your eyes and give your mind to your body posture, alignment, and current comfortability

• Begin to breathe, counting 5 seconds on your inhale and 5 seconds on your exhale

• As you breathe, focus on the communication your body is giving you

• As your mind wanders, give space to listening and allow acknowledgement of each thought

• Without breaking your mindfulness, pull your listening back to your breathing and refocus on the here and now

• Nearing the end, being to lengthen your inhales and exhales as you simultaneously start to shift your body

• Open your eyes and thank yourself for allowing 5 minutes of attention to your needs

Mindfulness is a powerful tool that can propel self-discovery. Time permitting, allow these meaningful moments of connection and feel empowered to extend or shorten your sessions to your comfortability. Continue to listen to what your body needs and remember to be kind to yourself. “

Metro World Child to distribute 60,000 Christmas presents in NYC through Operation Holiday Hope Drive on December 19th, 2020.

Based in Brooklyn, New York, Metro World Child is an international, humanitarian organization serving communities in NYC and around the world for over 40 years. “Our annual Christmas program, Operation Holiday Hope, allows us to show love by giving every child in our outreach programs around the world a gift at Christmas.”

Last year, Metro was able to reach 270,000 children through Operation Holiday Hope and of that number they had distributed 30,000 gifts to children in New York City alone.

“This year has brought so many disappointments during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and we want to bring Hope to as many children as possible. As such, we have set a new goal for ourselves by doubling the number of presents and distributing 60,000 gifts to children in New York this Christmas!”
